Yes YOU who spent hours and hours coding your theme(s) and/or plugin(s)and now want them to be fully translated into French!
We have a few rules we’re using for P(roject) T(ranslation) E(ditor) requests.
- If you as a Dev want to become PTE, we follow the WordPress meta handbook for translations recommendations. We’ll not accept such a request.
- If you have previous French translators working on your translations and knowing your product, they’re most welcome to join in following theses few steps :
- They translate as Contributors.
- They get in touch on Slack with the #fr tag or in the French Slack Community.
- We review their translations.
- We give them feedbacks.
- Then and only then they’ll get PTE access.
Why we are using such a method:
- We want to give YOUR project the best French Translations possible
- It helps us to create a community of French translators by knowing each others
- We thing globally and consistency across all translate.wordpress Projects
- We stop « wrong » translations to spread across all projects and at the same time save us a lot of afterwards work.
The best example I love to give to a dev is this one.
« As a Dev on GiHhub, do you give all access to another dev that want to participate to your project. No, right! You ask him first to fork it and create a Pull Request ».
So it’s the same around here, all Pull Requests are more than welcome. We’ll review and accept all of them. And if everything is fine we’ll be happy to let you in. We’re also spending hours on Your translations.
