Disable logout confirmation

Description

When a logout link has no security token — a menu item pointing to wp-login.php?action=logout, a cached page, or the WooCommerce « Log out » link in some themes — WordPress shows « You are attempting to log out of… Do you really want to log out? » and WooCommerce shows « Are you sure you want to log out? Confirm and log out ». Visitors have to click a second time.

This plugin logs the user out straight away instead.

  • Works with WordPress logout links (wp-login.php?action=logout).
  • Works with the WooCommerce My Account « customer-logout » endpoint.
  • Honors a safe redirect_to parameter on the link, the WooCommerce logout redirect page if one is set, and the standard logout_redirect filter.
  • No settings, no database tables, no external requests.

Developers can change the destination with the dlc_logout_redirect_url filter.

Installation

  1. Install the plugin from Plugins Add New, or upload the disable-logout-confirmation folder to /wp-content/plugins/.
  2. Activate it. That’s all.

FAQ

Is it safe?

Logging out is the only thing a link without a token can do, and redirects are limited to your own site (and hosts you allow with allowed_redirect_hosts). Links that already carry a valid token are left to WordPress.

Where do users land after logging out?

The redirect_to address on the link if it is safe, otherwise the login screen (WordPress) or the My Account page (WooCommerce).
