Edit my translations

With Weglot Translate, you can modify translations in « Translations » in your Weglot account here. If you change a translation, it’s automatically saved and displayed on your website.

The translations I edited are not displayed on my website.

All translations edited in your dashboard are automatically displayed in real-time in the translated versions of your website. If you can not see your new translations:

  1. Empty your cache plugin: it will enable new translations to be properly displayed. If it’s still not showing your new translations then:

  2. Go into your Weglot account and check you edited the right translations: use the search bar (at the top) to easily find translations you want to edit. Sometimes you can have 2 very similar translations and edited the wrong one.

Change the appearance of the Weglot Translate language button

You can change one of the three set-up items in your Weglot Translate settings (with/without flags, horizontal or dropdown menu, full language name or 2-letter code) or overwrite the CSS.

Change the position of the Weglot Translate language button

With widget areas, you can drag and drop the Weglot Translate widget.

Alternatively, use overwrite CSS to change the Weglot Translate button position or ask the Weglot Translate team at We will help you.

You can also put the button in the navigation menu by checking the option in the Weglot settings page. Be aware that putting the button in the menu might change the appearance of the button a bit as there are already some style (CSS) rules active in the menu.

You can additionally use a shortcode: [weglot_switcher]

Finally, you can also add <div id="weglot_here"></div> anywhere in your code and a Weglot button will be positioned at this place.

SEO and translations

Weglot Translate creates a dedicated URL for each language to ensure the proper indexation of your translated content by Search Engines (Google, …). SEO tags are also translated and editable in your Weglot Translate account. Translated pages will be on a sub-directory.

Translated URLs

Weglot Translate chooses to not translate URLs, as this could break URLs with non-Roman characters (for example, Chinese, Russian alphabets) and it has no proven impact on SEO. Finally, Google, Amazon, Airbnb, etc… are not doing it.

Translate image/video

With Weglot Translate, you can add different images for different languages. This is useful if you have text in an image and you want to display a translated image in your translated version. To do this, you can simply upload your other translated image in your gallery and then link it by going to your dashboard and searching for the original URL in the translations list.

Translation exclusions

You can exclude pages from translations if you don’t want them to be translated or just part of pages by using CSS selectors.
To do this, go in the WordPress panel -> Weglot settings page and use the field « Translation Exclusion ».

Translation exceptions

You can create your own translation rules in your Weglot dashboard by clicking on Translation Options, allowing you to:

  1. Add Exception Rules, such as « Never translate » or « Always translate » a word/expression in a custom way (for example, if you do not want to translate your brand name).

  2. Use the « Search and Replace » tool to easily search for a word in all your translations and replace it with the one you want.

Great solution, works very well, support level = heroic!

With over 250,000 words on 450 pages to be translated into 7 languages the task of manual translating is simply not feasible for me.

My requirements were a little different from normal but Remy and his colleagues have been nothing short of heroic in their support. Prompt replies, fantastic attention to detail and a willingness to help.

Yes, there are a couple of other plugins that don’t charge the money that Weglot do but I have tried them and they are really not good at all! You get what you pay for.

If you want the headache taken away and need a fast translation tool that complies to Google best practices (using hreflang) then this is your only serious option.

The machine translating is surprisingly accurate and very quick, using no http resources from my site or servers so the caching speed is maintained. Works with Yoast SEO, WooCommerce and WP Rocket.

Good customer support, easy and convenient to use – a few things to improve

I’ve surfaced quite a few issues and Remy and the team took some time to look into it and patch my website, I really appreciate.

Overall it’s really easy to setup and use. That’s a big advantage vs solutions like WPML which can take ages to setup and maintain.
The things that they need to work on to be at full parity with others – and hence become the best solution available given how easy to use weglot is – are:
A/ full AMP support – would be great to have the switcher working and locale detection on AMP sites
B/ need a flawless integration with a currency switcher. Right now Weglot + Woocs + caching can give you headaches (e.g. showing to you French customers French + GBP if your location detection by Woocommerce is flawed) => would be amazing to going forward have the possibility to input currency rules, e.g. GBP only for english, a bit like in WPML
– It works well with 10k words website and 1 language – but I think when it comes to very big websites and 4-5 languages it would be awesome to
(1) have the ability to edit the original copy of a string without impacting its translations (otherwise it can give bad surprises)
(2) keep a paragraph in 1 block instead of splitting every time there is a URL (similar to WMPL)

But overall I recommend very much 🙂

Worst Customer support on the internet.

I only received a list of 15 WordPress translate tools and Weglot was amongst. I started going through the reviews sections to figure what the downsides could be to know what am into just to witness the true definition of customer carelessness!
It is very inappropriate to address people like in such manner because they are not on the list of 5 star reviews. This is a sign there is no guarantee should one encounter a malfunction due to the plugin malfunction or any form of support, even if the plugin could be nice.

The customer bully replies in an annoying tone and makes sure no one else has a say 🙂

Very bad!

Fantastic multilingual plugin!

This is a really great plugin that provides support for a vast array of languages including Samoan and Tongan – amazing! Plus, awesome support – lightning fast resolution of even the most minor issue. Great product and customer support of the highest quality. If you’re looking for a fantastic plugin for multilingual websites, with incredible support, look no further. Weglot is it!

Perfect translation

I have been using this plugin 2 years in premium version and it’s perfect to translate any language. Also the support is really really good. You have to try it!
